ART ACADEMY DUSSELDORF TOUR 2017

From February 15th until February 19th 2017, the students of the Art Academy Dusseldorf will be exhibiting their graduation artworks in their class rooms. This time, three of Andreas Gursky's students will be presenting their final projects: Alexander Föllenz, Paul Hempt and Berit Schneidereit.

In the wake of Andreas Gursky’s current survey exhibition nicht abstrakt” at Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen in Germany, (link: Gagosian is pleased to present “Not Abstract II”, an exhibition of recent photographs by the renowned German artist, accompanied by an electronic sound installation created by Canadian DJ and producer Richie Hawtin.

EXHIBITION: DIE ERFINDUNG DER ABSTRAKTION, KUNSTAKADEMIE DÜSSELDORF 1931 BIS 2016

The Akademie-Galerie – Die Neue Sammlung is presenting different artist in and of the Düsseldorf Art Academy who have been working with the possibilities of abstraction in an exhibition called »Die Erfindung der Abstraktion« (the invention of abstraction). The shown two- and three-dimensional exhibits cover various positions which have derived in Düsseldorf from the age of classical modernism between the two world wars until today.

Artists: Silke Albrecht, Peter Brüning, Paul Czerlitzky, Helmut Federle, Pia Fries, Gerhard Hoehme, Rupprecht Geiger, Karl Otto Götz, Raimund Girke, Gotthard Graubner, Norbert Kricke, Paul Klee, Imi Knoebel, Manfred Kuttner, Ewald Mataré, Albert Oehlen, Blinky Palermo, Chris Reinecke and Michael van Ofen.

Past Wednesday, Richie Hawtin and Prof. Dr. Dirk Matejovski spoke about the origins of Hawtins music and his links to the art world during the KPMG-Kunstabend at the museum K20 in Düsseldorf. KPMG-KUNSTABEND AT THE K20 WITH RICHIE HAWTIN

This Wednesday, October 5th, 2016 at 9.30pm, Richie Hawtin and Prof. Dr. Dirk Matejovski will have a talk on the occasion of the exhibition Andreas Gursky - not abstract at the museum K20 in Düsseldorf (German/ English).

The Canadian DJ and producer Richie Hawtin and the professor for Media and Cultural Studies at the University of Düsseldorf, Dirk Matejovski, will speak about the art of electronic music and the sound installation of Hawtin, connoting Gurskys works at the K20.

The entrance to all houses of the Kunstsammlung NRW is free this Wednesday. The K20 at the Grabbeplatz, which is showing Andreas Gurskys exhibition, will be open until 11.30pm. Find out more about the events of the KPMG-Kunstabend on Facebook NRW.

Free public tours through Andreas Gursky's exhibition in German language are held on Sundays until November 6th, 2016 from 4-5 pm at the museum K20. An additional public tour will take place on October 3rd, 2016 (Day of German unity). For private guided tours in English and other languages please follow this link.
